Cooperative Law

The main legislation regulating the Cooperative Law in Turkey is the Cooperatives Law No. 1163. The provisions of the Turkish Commercial Code No. 6102 shall apply to the matters that are not included in this Law and where there is no explanation to the contrary.

Cooperatives, which literally means "working together", have been widely used in our lives since the industrial revolution. Cooperatives are a private organization of people who voluntarily come together to meet common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise. Cooperatives operate with the aim of enabling individuals to easily access production and services that they would not have access to on their own, and to rise out of poverty by becoming stronger together.
